Wivenhoe May Fair - Mon 31 May 2010
£4,000 has been raised for charity this year thanks to the support of over one hundred volunteers who help run the 2010 Wivenhoe May Fair.
The charities that will benefit from the funds raised this year are:
Russ Foundation, Help the Aged, Educational Aid for the Children of South Africa, Macmillan Nurses, Terence Higgins Trust in Colchester,
Colchester Citizens Advice Bureau, Support@The Junction, Meeting groups for local over-60s, Wivenhoe Youth Club and Transition Wivenhoe.
For the first time this year, alongside over a dozen bands playing on two music stages, the May Fair also featured a cycle-powered cinema tent showcasing the work of local film makers.
Jon Chamberlain of the Wivenhoe May Fair said: “The 2010 May Fair was a great success. We estimate 5,000 people came along to listen to the great music, catch a new film or just to soak up the atmosphere on a fantastic day.
“Raising another £4,000 for charity makes all the work of the many volunteers before during and after the May Fair very worthwhile. We thank everyone for their continuing support of this wonderful event and look forward to welcoming you all again in 2011.”
