Organisers believe 3,000 people came to this year's May Fair, despite the atrocious weather conditions, the worst that anyone can remember in the history of the May Fair.
Hazel Humphreys, one of the key organisers of this year's event said that despite the near continual showers, and many of them heavy, she had got positive feedback from the people who attended.
The music from both the main and acoustic stages was very well done, and the performers showed their mettle by carrying on through torrential rain. The Bands which played included Dog Friendly, Mahoney, Goose, Ray One Hundred, Quantum Big Foot, and Six Feet Underground.
As a result of this year's May Fair, the organisers have been able to make donations totalling £1,000 to several organisations including the Engine Shed Project, Wivenhoe Youth Club and Skateboard Park, Quakers Housing Charity and Colchester Cat Rescue.
This sum was raised at the May Fair and was boosted by the May Fair Charity Raffle which was drawn on 9th June. Prizes for this had been donated by local businesses.
